The children got off to a great start with their first Forest Friday session. Wrapped up in our new waterproof suits, (kindly purchased by The Friends of St. Joseph’s) we trudged outdoors and had registration at the fire circle. The children practised walking carefully around the outside of the fire circle, so that when we have a lit fire, they know how to keep safe. As it was Armistice Day, we decided to make a giant poppy out of the autumnal leaves. The children sorted the leaves into brown and yellow to make the poppy. We used rope to make the outline and they filled in the spaces with the fallen leaves. We used this as a focal point for our two minute silence and said prayers for all the fallen soldiers. We played lots of games and are already looking forward to next week’s session.
