Sport Premium 2016-2017

Sports premium is ring fenced funding for sport from the government.

The funding must be spent on improving the provision of Physical Education and sport for the benefit of pupils so that they develop healthy lifestyles.

School received £8,905 in the academic year 2016-2017

This money was spent in a number of areas:

  • We spent £2,312.50 to join the Gateshead School Sports Partnership at Gold and Premium Level.
  • We spent £496.25 improving resources.
  • We spent £2,202 on transport to and from events.
  • We spent £8,500 employing specialist PE teachers/coaches to work alongside teachers in lessons to increase their subject knowledge; this is also spent to encourage greater pupil participation in sport.
  • We spent £250 on a Cricket Coaching Programme.
  • We spent £450 on Skipping Projects.

Expected costs – Up until 31.3.18, we expect to spend a further £1,560 on Specialist Coaching and £547.50 for transport to Swimming and events.

The deficit in funding has been paid from our school budget.

In the previous academic year, the children have experienced an enriched sporting curriculum across many different areas. This has led to huge success in different sporting events – especially Athletics and Cricket – where we have been successful in County wide competitions.
